Money and Violence in Liga MX
Although Liga MX is loved and watched by millions every weekend, there still some very questionable topics about the way it runs. You see, Liga MX owners aren't the best people per se, and the owners of the federation are probably even worse. Although there are the unicorns who actually do care about the league, the majority of them only matter how much money is in their pockets and how they can make even more money than what they already have. They are money hungry pigs who try to act as if they care. If the really did care, the whole fan base wouldn't be complaining about the way the league is structured, and how its flaws only ruin the sport in the nation on a bigger picture. What I mean is that due to these rules and regulations, the national team is the one who is getting affected mostly, and with that, Mexico will never be able to compete against top nations who league system is actually good. The biggest problems Liga MX has is the way it is played and the violence that can occur inside the stadiums, which sometimes makes it difficult to enjoy and watch the league. Like I stated in past blogs, there is no relegation and promotion, so bad teams from the top can't go to lower divisions and great teams from lower divisions can't get better competition. The reason this is affecting the league is stated prefect by Trejo, "Without the fear of relegation, the drama in Liga MX is lost and, for many, mediocrity is favored."5 razones por las que la Liga MX está muriendo y a los aficionados ya no les interesa verla - Heraldo Deportes
People are okay with mediocrity and have accepted it, when it should be the complete opposite. Fans of teams should strive for the best every season no matter how bad they did the season prior, and bad teams should also have a reason to play for, staying up! Being in the first division comes with many monetary and social benefits.
This hasn't been the only case of violence, and I have actually experienced one. It was Xolos vs Chivas in Tijuana, and at the end of the game there were g8unshots heard and one person was found dead, while another 10 were injured. Mexican soccer fan shot outside of a stadium in Tijuana after a Liga MX match dies | AP News. Although stricter protocols are being put in place, people are still scared of this one day happening again.
Due to the fact that Mexican soccer is stained by its money hungry owners and the violent individuals and groups who go to the games, sometimes Liga MX can be hard to watch and enjoy. I hope this changes one day so that the beautiful game in Mexico can finally be enjoyed the way it should be.
